Requirements for Student Helpers
Becoming a team member of Rock Brook for Kids is a special opportunity for the older children and younger teens at Rock Brook Church. It is a privilege to effect children's lives through your week-by-week interaction. The training process is essential to prepare you and help you, our student helpers, to understand your role in the classroom and that you are properly equipped to do that job with excellence.
We have six requirements that are very important to us and must be continually true of each student helper:
1. A student helper must be age 10 or older.
2. A student helper must have and be able to express a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for
their forgiveness of sins and salvation.
3. A student helper must be active (minimally defined as three of every four weekends each
month) in their own primary group's service time. Our ministry flows from our worship of Jesus
Christ, not instead of it. A simple way to remember this is Worship One - Work One. It is essential
that Rock Brook for Kids teaching team and student helpers model this for the children. It is also
essential for us to maintain a healthy balance of the five purposes in our lives.
4. Each student helper must be an active participant (minimally defined as three of every four
meetings each month) in their age appropriate small group meetings. This too is an essential part
of the Christian experience we need to model for the children as we encourage them to participate
in KSG - Kids Small Group.
5. Required attendance at RBfK Dream Team Meetings (two a year) and weekly Team Huddles
before the service time you serve.
6. A student helper is only able to serve in the classroom where the oldest child present is four or
more years younger than the student helper. Placements may be affected by siblings in the
classroom. Student helpers joining the team in 2018 will begin to follow the serving track below.
Student Helper in Grade 5 - 9 will serve in Preschool rooms
Student Helper in Grade 10 - 11 will serve in Elementary rooms
Student Helper in Grade 12 can serve in any room.
An exception where a student helper will be allowed to stay in the same room no matter the grade
level will be the nursery.
