Week One - Dependent
Memory Verse:
God blesses me when I depend on Him! Matthew 5:3
God blesses me when I depend on Him! Matthew 5:3
Big Idea:
No matter where you live, your house has to be on solid ground. If your house is built on rock, it will be strong. If you build your house on sand, it will crumble to the ground. Jesus wants us to build our relationship with him on solid ground. What do you think He means? He wants us to learn about Him so when we face difficult times, we will look to Him for help. He will guide us and help us! Our first beatitude is the verse of the week. We were not made to be away from God. That’s why this is the first beatitude. God created us to love Him. We belong to Him.

Week Two - Repentant
Memory Verse:
God blesses me when I am sorry for my sin! Matthew 5:4
God blesses me when I am sorry for my sin! Matthew 5:4
Big Idea:
What is sin? Sin is anything we say or do that breaks God’s law or His Word. The Bible tells us if we love Jesus we should feel sad for the bad things we do. Our word of the week is repentance! Say that out loud! Repent means to ask forgiveness for the bad things we do and turn back to God. However, some people sin and do bad things, but they are not sad when this happens. That means they do not have a friendship with Jesus. Anytime we sin we should feel sorry because it makes Jesus feel sad. We will feel comfort because we know Jesus will forgive our sin if we love Him and ask Him to be our Savior. Our memory verse is the second beatitude. Jesus is telling us that to grieve is to feel sad because of our sin and that is a good thing. It means we love Jesus and want to please Him.

Week Three - Humble
Memory Verse:
God blesses me when I think of others first! Matthew 5:5
God blesses me when I think of others first! Matthew 5:5
Big Idea:
What does it mean to be humble? It means to have an attitude of not thinking we are too cool! We are important to God but not too important for others. God wants us to act nicely and be giving, and to do things not just because we get something. We should do something good when no one is looking or let someone else get the credit. The third beatitude says: “God blesses me when I think of others first!” (Matthew 5:5) Jesus wants us to learn in this beatitude that He will bless us when we realize all things come from God and when we consider God and others before ourselves.

Week Four - Obedient
Memory Verse:
God blesses me when I obey! Matthew 5:6
God blesses me when I obey! Matthew 5:6
Big Idea:
In this week’s beatitude, we are learning about obedience. It means that we will choose to obey God over anything we want or need. Obedience is a hard thing. It’s never really fun because it usually means we can’t do things our way. Jesus says we are blessed or we will be happy if we obey Him and His word. Why? Because Jesus knows what’s best for us. He should know. God created us and He knows everything! When we disobey God and His Word, we make our lives more difficult. There are blessings when we obey.

Week Five - Compassionate
Memory Verse:
God blesses me when I am kindhearted! Matthew 5:7
God blesses me when I am kindhearted! Matthew 5:7
Big Idea:
The Bible says we are to treat others the way we want to be treated (Matthew 7:12). This is easy to forget, especially when things don’t go our way. How do you want to be treated? Jesus is telling us to show compassion and kindness to others, even if they don’t deserve it. The men in our Bible story showed compassion and were kindhearted to their friend by carrying him to the roof and lowering him in front of Jesus. They were good friends! They wanted to help their friend! That was more important to them than whether or not they got to be close to Jesus. Just like the man’s friends, Jesus had compassion and kindness for the paralyzed man and Jesus healed him. In this week’s beatitude, the Bible tells us we will be blessed or happy when we are compassionate and considerate of others.

Week Six - Righteous
Memory Verse:
God blesses me when I do what is right! Matthew 5:8
God blesses me when I do what is right! Matthew 5:8
Big Idea:
We were made to love and serve God so it makes sense that we are happy when we live right and make choices that please Him. So when you have to decide to do the right thing or the wrong thing, what would you choose? Doing the right thing will not only be good for you but it will show others you love Jesus!
Pure means clean; not clean with soap but clean with thoughts and words. Our word of the day is RIGHTEOUS! Everyone say it together! It is a big word. It means to follow God and to live a life that is pleasing to Him! If we listen to Bible stories, pray and go to church, we will be filled with all we need to live right! This will make us happy and make God happy! We will have a pure and happy heart! And everything we do will be for God!

Week Seven - Peacemaker
Memory Verse:
God blesses me when I make peace with others! Matthew 5:9
God blesses me when I make peace with others! Matthew 5:9
Big Idea:
The early church did not trust Saul and who would blame them? He had hurt many Christians for their faith. People were afraid of him! But Barnabas became a peacemaker! He explained Saul’s story to the Christians a long time ago. He told them about Saul’s new love for Jesus. Barnabas was able to unite everyone so that instead of being afraid of Saul, they accepted Saul. And guess what happened? The church grew and became more peaceful. That’s what happens when we choose to make peace! God is a God of peace. And He loves it when we make peace with others instead of arguing.

Week Eight - Courageous
Memory Verse:
God blesses me when I stand up for what is right! Matthew 5:9
God blesses me when I stand up for what is right! Matthew 5:9
Big Idea:
When you get older some people might tease you for what you believe in. Some may think what you believe about Jesus is silly or weird. But Jesus gives you the courage to stand up for what you believe in! We are told in this final beatitude that if we take a stand for what we know is right and live the way Jesus told us to live, we will belong to His kingdom. That means we are connected to Him and the promise Jesus gives us is that one day we will spend forever with Him in heaven! Stand up for Jesus!
