TRUTH: THE WORD OF GOD IS LIKE A LIBRARY!In today's Bible story, King Josiah found and read the scroll which contained the Word of God. The king was instructed in how God wanted His people to live. It helped King Josiah understand how his people had sinned and disobeyed God. Because King Josiah loved God and studied God's Word, he knew how to be a good leader for his people. God’s Word changed him. He led them to love and honor the one true God. The Word of God is just as powerful today as it was in King Josiah’s day! The Bible contains everything that God wants us to know about Him. It is full of God's wisdom. It shows us what is important and how God wants us to live. It also helps us to know how much God loves us and that He wants us to love Him in return. (2 Kings ch. 22-23)

TRUTH: THE WORD OF GOD IS LIKE A FLASHLIGHT!
In today's story, King Solomon asked God to give him wisdom. He knew this is what he needed to be a good leader for his people. God's wisdom helped illuminate King Solomon's path. He knew that only God could give him what he needed. The Bible is full of examples of God's wisdom. When you learn about the experiences of others in the Bible, it helps to light your path too! Did you know that Proverbs was written by King Solomon? It is called the book of Wisdom because it is full of God’s wisdom to all of us. God’s Word was able to show King Solomon the way! (1 Kings 3:1-15)

TRUTH: THE WORD OF GOD IS LIKE A MAP!In today's Bible story, God gave special and specific directions to Joshua that guided him and his soldiers on to victory in Jericho. Joshua listened carefully to everything God told him to do. They went where God told them to go. They followed God's directions exactly. You see, God is willing to guide us, if we are willing to accept His guidance and listen to His directions. God’s Word guided Joshua! (Joshua 6:1-27)

TRUTH: THE WORD OF GOD IS LIKE A SWORD AND SHIELD!In today's story, David understood that God was on the side of the Israelites. Because he knew that, he had confidence that God would protect him and help him beat Goliath. David was not worried because he knew the battle belonged to God and not to him. He just needed to show up and that is what he did! You see, God’s Word tells us He wants to protect us too! He is more powerful than anyone or anything! He wants us to claim that promise and learn to rely on Him. God’s Word protected David! (1 Samuel 17)

TRUTH: THE WORD OF GOD IS LIKE A MIRROR!Today's Bible story is an example of the kind of love God has for us. God loves us as a parent loves his child. Even when we make foolish choices, like the son in this story, God allows us to learn from them. He hopes we will love him enough to return to him and ask forgiveness. God waits for us just as the father in the story waited for his son to come back home. That is the kind of loving God we serve! When we learn more about the many stories in the Bible, we learn more about the character of God. God’s Word reflects my character. (Luke 15:11-32) |
TRUTH: THE WORD OF GOD IS LIKE A SHEPHERD'S VOICE!
In today's Bible story, you can see that Hannah's husband loved her and he tried to comfort his wife. Eli, the priest, tried to offer her words of comfort too. God can work through others to provide comfort for us sometimes, but our only true and lasting comfort comes from knowing God and praying to Him. Hannah cried out to God through prayer when she was sad. Our friends and family may not be there for us all the time, but God’s Word promises that God will be with us. God Word comforts us when we are hurting. (1 Samuel 1:1-28)

TRUTH: THE WORD OF GOD IS THE BIBLE!In today's story, God wanted his prophet, Jonah, to warn the people in Ninevah about their sinning. Jonah chose to disobey God so God had to correct Jonah. God sent a terrible rainstorm while Jonah was sleeping on the boat. God punished Jonah by letting him be thrown overboard, but saved him by allowing him to be swallowed by a big fish. God gave Jonah three days to think about what he had done wrong before he had the big fish spit him out on the beach. Now Jonah was much more interested in obeying God. When we learn about stories like this in the Bible, we can see that God loves us enough to correct us. He knows what's best for us and He wants us to obey Him. God’s word corrects Jonah. (Jonah ch. 1-4)
